Bowstring Waxes
Back to TopDry bowstring fibers tend to vibrate against each other when the bow is fired, thus wearing the fibers out prematurely and weakening the bowstring. Proper application of a good formula wax can extend the life of a bowstring many times over. Always be sure to include areas of the string that are served. This helps to keep the bowstring from moving inside the serving, minimizing wear.
Xccelerator Wax – A revolutionary Wear Reduction Wax. An all natural based string wax and conditioner that greatly reduces friction and abrasion typically found with cable slides, wheels and rollers. Lubricates & rejuvenates your bowstring. Water resistant and scent free. Comes in a convenient, pocket sized retactable tube.
- Rotate tube base, bringing wax up.
- Apply liberally to the bowstring fibers.
- Rub wax into the bowstring fibers and servings. As wax warms, it melts into the fibers.
- This should be done at the first indication of dryness in string fibers. Helps to extend the life of a bowstring.
Tex-Tite Bowstring Wax – Natural based bowstring wax for all bowstrings. To apply:
- Push wax up from the bottom of the tube.
- Apply liberally to the bowstring fibers.
- Rub wax into the bowstring fibers and servings. As wax warms, it melts into the fibers.
- This should be done at the first indication of dryness in string fibers. Helps to extend the life of a bowstring.
Provides a "tacky", durable coating when cooled.
Seal-Tite Bowstring Wax – A silicone based bowstring wax. Seal-Tite lubricates the surface of the bowstring extending the life of the string and reducing the friction of the fibers during shooting. To apply:
- Push up from the bottom of the tube.
- Apply liberally to the bowstring fibers.
- Rub wax into the bowstring fibers and servings. As wax warms, it melts into the fibers.
- This should be done at the first indication of dryness in string fibers. Helps to extend the life of a bowstring.

Bowstring Serving
Back to TopServe-Tite String Server – Excellent for quick, tight center servings. Bohning Serve-Tite Server has two thread tension adjustments to assure consistently smooth and uniform string serving. Tension can be adjusted at the thread spool and the guide washer. This guarantees no overlapping winds as the server is revolved around the bowstring. A complete serving takes less than a minute to complete and the string can be served on a strong bow or while stretched between two posts.
- A serving is started by holding a short piece of the serving thread on the bowstring and over wrapping it. The wrap is continued until the "V" notch of the server rests securely against the bowstring.
- The server is revolved around the string. The server guides itself down the string laying a tight series of uniform wraps with no overlapping.
- About ½" from the end of the serving, lay a loop of thread on the bowstring. Over wrap this to the end of the serving. Cut the serving thread from the server and run the thread end through the loop. With the loop, pull the serving thread back under itself and remove the looped end. Trim and finish the serving to your preference.
- Remove the wing nut holding the spool and insert new spool with thread coming off spool away from you.
- Run thread under the washer axle and pull thread up tightly between the guide tension washers.
- Run end of serving through the hole in the "V" notch of the server.
- Adjust the tension and washer so thread pulls off smoothly but with resistance.
No. 62 Braid Thread – Durable spectra and high tenacity polyester braided together allowing the spectra to ride on the outside for durability and the polyester gripping the bowstring.

- Soak the end of the shaft to be fletched or painted for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Remove and rinse shafts thoroughly with hot running water.
- Allow to air dry. Do not wipe dry.
