- Blazer vanes should be fletched in the same location as any other vane.Back to Top
- How should Blazer vanes be fletched?
- We recommend fletching Blazer vanes with a helical or a 2 to 3 degree offset.Back to Top
- Do Blazer vanes work with broadheads?

- What is the best method for cleaning arrow shafts?
- The best way to clean arrow shafts is to use a good degreasing soap such as our SSR Shaft Cleaner. Products such as Comet, Simple Green and Ajax can also be used. Using a plastic brush, scrub the shaft with soap and water. Then rinse the arrow shaft with hot running water and allow it to air dry. Product such as alcohol can leave a residue on the shaft and inhibit adhesion.Back to Top
- What are the best ways of removing ArroWraps from a shaft?
- There are a few options for removing ArroWraps. The first is to soak the ArroWrap in hot tap water for 5 minutes and then peeling the wrap off. The second is to heat the ArroWrap with a hair dryer and the peeling the wrap off. The third is to scrap the ArroWrap off the shaft using Bohning's new "Stripper" tool. It is important to always clean the shaft well after removing an ArroWrap.Back to Top
- What happens if paint or adhesive is frozen or stored at very cold temperatures?
- Allow paint or adhesive to return to room temperature before using and it should function normally. Do not place the can directly on or near a furnace. It is recommended that preventative measures should be taken to keep paints and adhesives from freezing. Some minor chemical changes may occur.Back to Top
- What is the optimal temperature to use Fletch-Lac Paint?
- Temperatures should be less than 70° F and humidity should be less than 65%.Back to Top
- What type of paper towel should be used when cleaning shafts?
- If using paper towels, do not use ones containing lanolin. Lanolin in paper towels creates a barrier of oil that prevents adhesion.Back to Top
- I want to purchase a Bohning Quiver, but I shoot carbon arrows. Do I need to purchase a carbon retainer separately?
- No, all Bohning Quivers come with an aluminum and carbon arrow retainer. If you use a small carbon shaft, retainers for these shafts can be purchased separately for the Lynx 4, Panther 4 and Cougar 4 only.Back to Top
- Can I clear dip over my crest?
- No, we do not recommend clear dipping over a crest. This will cause the crest lines to become fuzzy and run together.Back to Top
- How long after fletching do I have to wait to shoot my arrows?
- We recommend waiting 24 hours after fletching with Fletch-Tite or Fletch-Tite Platinum to be sure your fletchings will be fully cured.Back to Top
- Do you have to thin dipping and cresting paint?
- Yes, it is necessary to thin dipping and cresting paint to be sure your paint has the correct viscosity.Back to Top
- How much thinner do I need to add to my dipping paint?
- There is not a specific amount of thinner we can tell you to add. Always start adding thinner in small increments. Paint should run freely from the end of the arrow shaft for at least 15 seconds before it starts dripping droplets. 15 to 20 seconds is a good rule of thumb. If the paint runs from less than 15 seconds the paint is too thin, which can be corrected by leaving the top off the container to allow the solvents to evaporate. If the paint runs longer than 20 seconds, it is too thick and should be thinned with Bohning Fletch-Lac Thinner.Back to Top
- Can I crest Bohning ArroWraps?
- No, not at this time.Back to Top
- What is the difference between Fletch-Lac Clear and Blue Clear?
- Fletch-Lac Clear is recommended as a seal coat for wood shafts. It is also used as a dip for aluminum shafts to help promote better adhesion. Blue Clear is used for dipping over whites and fluorescents. It helps to produce sharper, brighter colors.Back to Top

- How do I prepare my arrow shafts for dipping and fletching?
- The most important part of arrow building is the proper cleaning of the arrow shaft. Failing to properly prepare the shaft can create poor adhesion of paints, stains and fletchings.
- We recommend cutting the shaft and installing all necessary hardware prior to cleaning the shaft for dipping and fletching. This minimizes handling of the shaft and reduces the risk of contamination.
- Always make sure that the shaft is straight. Your shooting will only be as accurate as the straightness of your arrow.
- Any arrow should be dipped or fletched as soon as possible after cleaning to keep the shafts from becoming contaminated. Many arrow builders have had success using acetone, lacquer thinner, alcohol or other solutions to clean shafts. However, we stand firmly behind SSR Arrow Shaft Surface Cleaner. Although, use of acetone is the optimal solution for degreasing and preparing aluminum and carbon shafts.
- How do I keep my PowerBond from drying up prematurely?
- Before using PowerBond, turn bottle upside down for 10 to 15 seconds. This will allow the Nitrogen filled bubble to rise to bottom of bottle. Remove cap, squeeze out required amount. Immediately release pressure on bottle while still in downward position. Turn bottle upright, wipe dropper and replace cap.Back to Top
- How long do I have to allow PowerBond to dry before shooting?
- We recommend allowing 6 to 8 hours cure time before shooting.Back to Top
